Accessible Employment Standard Regulation Review
The Accessible Employment Standard Regulation works to remove and prevent barriers that affect current and potential members of Manitoba’s labour force. The Accessibility for Manitobans Act requires that each standard be reviewed every five years to identify areas of improvements. This ensures that the standard continues to work for Manitobans, as the labour force is ever-changing.

Five-Year Review of the Accessible Employment Standard Regulation: January 2025
The Accessibility Advisory Council started the first five-year review of the Accessible Employment Standard Regulation in July 2024.
During the summer and into fall, the Accessibility Advisory Council consulted with a variety of Manitoba groups on the effectiveness of the standard. This included members of the disability community and organizations representing people disabled by barriers, members of the business community, organizations, non-profits, municipalities and human resource professionals responsible for the recruitment, hiring and retention of employees. Manitobans could also share feedback on the standard by participating in one of the public town hall sessions or visiting EngageMB.ca to share their story or take a survey.
The consultation closed on November 1, 2024. All feedback received through the review was considered by the Accessibility Advisory Council in the drafting of the final report. They presented their review findings and 27 recommendations in a final report to the Minister responsible for accessibility.
The Manitoba government is in the process of developing an action plan to respond to the Accessibility Advisory Council’s recommendations.
